Movie Review: The X-Files 2008 – I Want to Believe

My Rating: 8 of 10

The X-Files 2008 For X-Files fans out there, I strongly recommend this movie. Don’t bother with other reviews and critics. This movie is realy an X-Files, bring back your memory of watching X-Files TV episodes, but this time in longer format. I cannot tell more about movie synopsis cause it will ruin your expectation, just sit and follow the plot.

This is a standalone plot apart from conspiracy and alien abduction, telling a story about pursuing an FBI agent that was kidnapped misteriously with help of a Catholic Father. Fox Mulder continues his quest for the truth, and Dana Scully, an intelligent physician, remains tied to Mulder’s pursuits.

It will satisfy your old school dream about Fox and Scully relationship, also suspense in its investigation as well as enough time to introduce Fox and Scully to younger generation of non X-Files tv series watchers.

Unlike the first movie in 1998 about conspiracy and some confusing plots, this movie only bring back Fox, Scully and Skinner in a simpler story, like a detective movie with mistery and suspense but starred by X-Files casts. No Cigarette-Smoking man and no Well-manicured man appeared in this movie. I guess after six year of putting this movie project in the shelf, 20th Century Fox didn’t give enough big budget for creator and director Chris Carter to shoot.

And again, just watch it.

Virtual Blog of Hiro Nakamura for Heroes Fan

Well, I have just watched Heroes till episode 18th, the intense was so high but I haven’t got next episodes. Waiting is very hard job right now. I can say this serial is very good and addictive. A worth watching tv series.

One of interesting character in the serial is Hiro Nakamura (played by Masi Oka). He is a Japanese that were mean to save the world with his special ability: bend time and space, doing teleport.  And now we have the interesting fact: Hiro has a blog! He wrote many side notes regarding his journey (along with actual episode). Now you can confused about who’s writing the blog: Masi Oka or Hiro Nakamura. Well I think none of them, the blog must be wrote by someone else in the production company.

You can also view each episode from NBC Heroes 360 site (http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/360/) , including viewing commentary, send your artwork (who knows your painting will be showing as Issac’s future paintings), and exploring map owned by Suresh Mohinder :)

Top 10 Jargon Tukul Arwana di Empat Mata

To continue from my previous blog, this is what I get from neighbour’s blog: Denysri Blog.

<added in 23 March> Tukul Arwana a.k.a Reynaldi a.k.a wong ndeso memang makin ngetop di TV7 / Trans7. Siaran digeser jam 21.30 selesai kadang molor sampe jam 23.15 gara-gara iklan bejibun. <end of addition>

Berikut ini, Top 10 11 jargon (menurut saya) yang sering diucapkan oleh mas Tukul di acara Empat Mata-nya.

  1. Kembali ke laptop!
  2. Silent please!
  3. Ta’ sobe’-sobe’ mulutmu!
  4. Puas??? Puas???
  5. Ndeso!
  6. Katro!
  7. Culun!
  8. Kutu kupret!
  9. fish tu fish (ini pasti maksudnya face-to-face. ndeso!)
  10. Just kidding and just for laught
  11. <added in 23 March>Kristalisasi keringat

10PM is laughing time

There’s something new in our television program in last 12 months. If you notice, 9PM onward some channels start broadcasting talkshow programs. It is a good sign in my view, that our viewers start to accept talkshow, slowly to replace those boring tv dramas.

The first one is Lepas Malam on TransTv hosted by Farhan. It had been couple years if I can remember his performance in the smart and entertaining jokes and current affairs. After replaced by Indi barens, I felt that it lost some magic touches, so I never watch again.

The second is Bincang Bintang hosted by Tika Panggabean. I never enjoy watching this program so I can’t describe it better.

When Farhan moved to Antv, I praised him as a risk taker. Moving from the most favorite show to an unknown show on not-so-many-people-watch tv channel was a brave move. Its first couple months’ shows were good and well known, but I think this year will not be his year.

And now worth mentioning is Empat Mata on Trans7 (formerly TV7). And you might not believe who is the host: Tukul Arwana. Non-commercial face and lack of intellectual background don’t take into account to the viewers. It is an entertaining and fresh talkshow, usually with going-no-where of talk or no conclusion at end of show, but I have to praise how he brings his one hour show into a very attractive with lots of laughing.

I watched the first episode of Empat Mata on Sunday. The show was only once a week on Sunday 10PM. It was very good show with Sarah Azhari as a guest, and it went to the end of show without going nowhere, just laugh and laugh. But these days, the show comes to your tv from Sunday to Friday, jokes is well prepared or spontaneous, he becomes smarter and dumber at once. And huge money comes to his pocket since he has been signed 300+ episodes for the show. Wow.
