Hands-on Lotus iNotes UltraLite in iPod Touch - a little review

I rarely post articles about Lotus Notes despite I am a certified for IBM Lotus Notes software. Well, my blog is more about technology and lifestyle. So I spend this little time to make a quick review of using iNotes UltraLite, a web-based email solution from IBM Lotus Domino 8.0.2, specially designed for iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2nd generation users.

First thing, I really don't want to mess up my laptop configuration just for this trial. I have Domino 7 running well and don't want to install Domino 8 until 'the day' is coming. Company's infra  also should not be changed. Yepp, I think we're not ready for Domino 8 yet until end of this year. Fortunately, IBM Lotus gives us opportunity to test iNotes Ultralite using IBM's infrastructure, by signing up to a project called Lotus Greenhouse.

Basically we just need to sign-up to this project and create a mailbox with a valid email address, then we'll have a new mailbox at lotus. After all is set, then open Safari Browser from iPhone or iPod to open Lotus Greenhouse project url : https://greenhouse.lotus.com/home.

Sanyo Xacti HD1010 User Review

As I planned to have a video camera before my first daughter born, I tried hard to find a good one - in High Definition format. Last time when I was in Shanghai on March 08, I almost purchased Sanyo Xacti HD1000 for 4100 RMB, luckily saved by self-control device (read: money). Now, 6 months later, after browsing and find people review of HD video cam, I ended up in 2 options: Sanyo Xacti HD1000 / HD1010 or Canon HF100. Both have different plus points.

Xacti product brand is always come into a pistol-gun size, ergonomic and fit into a palm, easy to carry to anywhere without needing big bag. Even it can be slipped into jeans pocket. It is lightweight because uses flash memory instead of using mini DV or Harddisk as storage.

Canon HF100 is the latest lineup from Canon, comes in HD output format, also uses flash memory as storage (HF10 model comes with internal memory). Plus point is it uses OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) to minimalize hand shake.

True Broadband Speed @ Kowloon

Using my guest house located in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Never I've experienced this kind of Internet broadband speed before. Wow!

All about Huawei E220 - Driver for Mac and XP, ressurection from failed firmware update

Long time from before Lebaran, I purchased Huawei USB Modem E220 from Internet marketer. The price is IDR 986,000 (incl. shipping fee). It is an unlocked Vodafone UK Version, so we can insert any GSM SIM Card to surf Internet with speed UMTS and HSDPA.

Installation for Windows

Huawei E220 Installation for Windows XP is straightforward. Perform below steps to install driver and set correct APN.

1. When I inserted into USB port, Windows will detect it immediately.
2. Notice that there is a new drive appear in your computer, as if we have inserted USB Flash disk.
3. Windows will not recognized and install correct driver. So when Windows asks about finding driver, you should point search location to new drive comes from Huawei.
4. After installation completed  we will have 3 new devices: USB, 3G Modem, and 3G Port.
5. Install Vodafone Mobile Connect from that new drive. This is optional but I believe it makes your life easier.
6. Open Mobile Connect application, choose Settings - Network Connection Settings.. from menu
7. Create a new profile. My case is Indosat 3G

8. Information to be filled

   • Number : *99***1#
   • username: indosat3g
   • password: indosat3g
   • APN Static: indosat3g

9. Save this setting and try to connect.

E220 Installation for Mac OS X Leopard 10.5

For Mac driver, I surf all the web to find correct driver. Download everything and now I am abit confused which one is working one. Originally I follow steps explained by Evan. Hope you can follow my installation step to install Huawei E220 driver for Mac OS X.

Let's eat some balls - an Okirobox food review

A small shop to visit when you come to Senayan City is to try some foods at Okirobox. It is located in food court, in the middle of the court. I tried it several months ago, just remember to post it now.

First thing, don't expect you will be full by eating Okirobox foods. All items should be categorized as snack or side-dishes (although prices are not). You know, japanese foods tend to satisfy eyes and tongue, not stomach.

Takoyaki (Octopus balls)

This snack is made of some eggs I believe, can be filled with Squid / octopus or other meats as you like. One box contains 4 ball. Prices vary from IDR 14,000 to 20,000 per box. Try it and you may like it. Taste sweet and yummy with mayo cream and salmon fish filament topping, unfortunately only 4 balls per serving. By googling a bit, I found how to make takoyaki from here.
